I could have not imagined a better first moonlighting experience. Staff physicians and administrative staff welcomed me warmly. Walking into the department lobby, I was greeted by the service line and Clinic leaders as they walked me through the necessary orientation red tape. My first shift started off with a bang, acutely and critically ill patients whom which we were consultants. I was pleasantly surprised and humbled to have my input seriously considered and relayed to the primary team via the chair of the department who stayed late into the weekend to ensure top quality patient care. As if that were not enough, I had the pleasure of working with skilled APNPs and astute resident physicians. Tailoring rounds to maximize patient care, efficiency, and educational value – like colleagues and team insured flexibility and did so with proficiency.
